Tutorial - Basics of Goldentowns - Which country should I choose and why is this important?

So you are pumped? Ready to play and earn some real money? Easy there sailor, if you want to make some real cash in this game you have to be patient and know the game. So I hope this tutorial will get you going!

First, I want to say that the rules of the game are changing sometimes when the devteam are making updates so when you read this some things may have changed. But anyway...

The first thing you have to sign up (DUH). You will probably be linked to create a account on the server that is the same country that you are from. (NOTE: every country in the game has its own server, but all servers are connected so everyone plays together) You don't have to create a account on the server which has the same name as the country you live in. Eg if you live in Italy you don't have to create your account on the Italy server. And don't worry, if you want to change server its no problem because you're allowed to create one account on every server. You're NOT allowed to create multiple account on the same server however.

Things to think about when choosing country
Choosing the right country or server to play on is important because every country has its own parameters to take into account.

The different things to know something about is:
  • Country strength: What I mean with this is literally how strong your country is. This matters because if a country is overtaken and occupied by another country all the players in the occupied country will have to pay 25% tax to the occupying country. Needless to say this is bad for you.

You can see if the country is occupied before you click the signup button in the top-left corner of your screen, as seen in the images above. But it is a pain to check them all out so here are a few tips on strong countries:
    • Romania
    • Germany
    •  France
    • Italy
    • Norway
    • South Africa

This might have changed by the time you read it but these are the strong ones at the moment.
Tip: Create a test account on a server just to check out which countries are occupied and which isn't.
  • Market prices: Every country has its own market and therefore different prices, depending on your play style this might be important. Prices change all the time so there is no way of telling which are cheap at the moment.
  • Country taxes: The country tax will be adjustable (it is not when I'm writing this) so that could mean it is cheaper to live in one country more then the other.
To sum up
  •  You are allowed to create accounts on every server but not more than one on the same server.
  • Create a account in a strong country because you will pay less taxes. Create a test account to check out one or more strong countries.
  • Check out the market prices depending on your play style.
